Look at my new automatic Corvette
A Malibu with a 350 crate engine (why is that in quotes) and a powerglide... rare rare rare rare
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:51 |

At least there’s none of those creepy kid-dolls in these cars....

So that guy bought a random corvette out of dealer stock and entered it? Bleah.
And the Powerglide is the stupid part of that 68 Chevelle.

I remember when we used to make fun of new Vette owners constantly. One of my buddies got one, and we constantly teased him about it. Saying he had erectile problems, was retiring, and then someone (his sister I think) slapped a viagra sticker on it. lol
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:54 |
|
wait...... we stopped doing that?
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:54 |

Reminds of when someone proudly showed me their new 2014 S4 sedan at a car show.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:55 |

I’m okay with signs like these as long as they’re in the back seat or something so that good photos of the car are still possible.
That said: 2018 Vette guy, nobody gives a flying and flipping fuck about the car you just bought from a dealership.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:56 |
|
Oh God no. We must still make fun of them. We need to get some sponsored by viagra and celias stickers made. lol
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:57 |
|
oh good... thought i missed the memo there for a sec :p
![]() 01/21/2018 at 15:58 |
|
Nah, no one cares about your 350 crate motor or bone stock convertible Vette.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:00 |
|
Yes. Pride in one’s car is the absolute worst.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:00 |
|
I don’t know which is worse, stock new cars or poorly modified C5s with chrome bits stuck everywhere.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:02 |
|
It’s not pride, it’s exceptionalism, and it’s terrible.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:02 |

A car show not far from me this summer had a stock Hellcat enter. It didn’t win anything. The dude went on such a smear campaign of the show that they ended up saying a mistake was made on the score sheets and gave him a trophy just to shut him up.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:04 |

It’s basically patting yourself on the back for spending money.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:05 |
|
That’s insane. What is he, 12 years old?
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:06 |
|
Billet radiator cap bro.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:07 |

Do you know what condition that Chevelle was in when he started the project and how much work, and how much of his income, went in to getting it where it is? Do you know how long that guy had to work and save to buy that Corvette? They may not be special to you but they are special to their owners and that’s all that matters.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:08 |
|
I’d have banned him instead
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:09 |
|
Just think, someone was paid to make those things.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:10 |
|
That’s a problem everywhere today: giving people what they want because they whine loudly because no one has the balls to tell someone to get fucked.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:10 |
|
Nah. Trophy for “biggest asshole”
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:10 |
|
The Chevelle was on shitty amarican racing truck wheels and the Corvette was bone stock. You can be proud of your car, but it’s not car show sign worthy.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:11 |
|
Yesssss!
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:12 |
|
Booming industry apparently
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:14 |
|
Was paid to do so and cringing the whole time doing it, begging the person to change the wording.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:15 |

I don’t mind seeing cars like that at a show, although I ignore them.
But FFS, don’t expect anyone to fawn over it and you sure as hell aren’t winning a prize.
I went to a Father’s Day show at a church by my house last year, and in the middle of all the old cars was a bone stock 2013 Malibu, I kid you not. No signs though, an no owner hanging around either.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:17 |
|
Would not fly if I were running the show, but then again, most things wouldn’t
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:18 |
|
It’s opinion. They like their cars. You don’t and have chosen to piss on them for it.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:21 |
|
Something something boomers? (who deserve the criticism after whining nonstop about millennials).
Nothing wrong with being proud of a hard-earned toy, but not every car belongs in a show, and not every car in a show needs a sign.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:22 |
|
This was just a little church fundraiser show. In that case they have lots of space and are probably happy to have anyone join.
But the show you were at looks more serious with ropes, stands etc and someone made signs. The Corvette just does NOT belong. The Chevelle is ok, but the “crate” part and using a PG behind it just seems like bad decision making.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:23 |
|
No, no it’s not. There’s a gradient here. You show up in a normal car, fine. You show up in a normal car with a big ass sign that says “look at how special my normal car is”, you’ve invited my opinion.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:24 |
|
Hopefully Jake or JayhawkJake post the true crime of the show... there was a crime against humanity there.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:26 |

Oh boy. Worse than this, huh?

An E30 M3 with an LS swap?
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:44 |
|
Whoever is making those signs is making some money...
![]() 01/21/2018 at 16:50 |
|
well. yeah, the hellcat totally appeals to my inner 12 year old
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:04 |
|
A “crate” engine?
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:08 |
|
That’s a basket motor
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:11 |
|
At least you can’t just walk in to a dealer and drive the Malibu like you can the Corvette.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:12 |
|
I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t have an opinion. I am just suggesting the opinion you have is wrong.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:27 |
|
Nah, I have nothing against the Grand Sport in and of itself, it’s a nice car. The sign is just silly though.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:30 |
|
Or this one ...

I love how “paddle shift” is on there as if it makes the automatic better somehow. My cheap little Fit had those 10 years ago.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:47 |
|
I mean, it’s still a torque converter, it’s not like it’s a dual clutch or something.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 17:55 |
|
![]() 01/21/2018 at 18:07 |
|
True, but I could make that Malibu look a hell of a lot better with a set of wheels and a 327 or 396 with a 4-speed.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 18:11 |
|
Well, when it works for our president...
![]() 01/21/2018 at 18:25 |

I hate those car show signs and trinkets with a firey passion that knows no bounds.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 18:27 |
|
I can understand it as some wall art for your garage or something, but it’s just silly at car shows
![]() 01/21/2018 at 18:52 |
|
Yeah I can see putting DCT on there if it was one (let’s ignore that you can get one in a Focus), but a torque converter auto is an auto. Stop pretending it’s fancier than it is.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:00 |
|
Just to play devil’s advocate, I think the Corvette auto is supposed to be pretty good. Like faster than rowing your own good.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:01 |
|
But is it write it on a sign good?
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:03 |
|
Wait, is that a Cavalier?
Edit: Sunfire. There are no automotive gods.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:07 |
|
Lol. I mean, I’m not one for car shows like this, partially because of stuff like this. Bunch of retired guys with nothing better to do than polish their knobs and dude bros without the social skills to hold down a relationship with anything with a pulse.
Sorry, I’m feeling especially cynical ATM.
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:11 |
|
What the hell? A Sunfire? And what’s with the cotton?
The owner of that must be oblivious beyond belief
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:23 |
|
All of the stuff inside has Chevy logos on it too. Nothing makes sense
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:29 |
|
But muh two speed slushbox trans!
![]() 01/21/2018 at 19:39 |
|
I know the reason the Germans are going back to slushboxes is because they can get the same performance from them, but they shift smoother when your driving normally.
Idk if American ones are that good. Although something like a vette probably has a ZF

Powerglides are the shit for bracket racing, afaik.
